Mongla Port sets new record in revenue earnings in last fiscal year

Mongla Port, the country's second-largest seaport located in Bagerhat, achieved a new record in revenue earnings by generating Tk 3,879.51 crore during the 2025-26 fiscal year alongside an increase in vessel arrivals, cargo, and container handling.
Mongla Port Authority Chairman Rear Admiral Arif Ahmed Mostafa shared the figures during a view-exchange meeting with journalists at the port authority auditorium on Tuesday.
The Port Authority Chairman informed reporters that against a revenue target of Tk 3,478.70 crore for the 2025-26 fiscal year, actual earnings reached Tk 3,879,51,20,000. This marks an increase of Tk 408.26 crore, or 11.76 percent, compared to the previous fiscal year's revenue collection.
During the same period, 815 foreign ships docked at the port, while 1.22 crore metric tonnes of cargo and 29,714 TEUs of containers were handled. In addition, 12,075 reconditioned cars were imported through the port.
Port officials highlighted that several development projects—including the acquisition of new auxiliary vessels and the construction of container terminals and yards—are currently under implementation to boost operational capacity. However, maintaining the navigability of the 144-kilometer channel remains one of the primary operational challenges.
Rear Admiral Arif Ahmed Mostafa noted that these infrastructure initiatives will enhance Mongla Port's handling capacity while accelerating commercial and economic activities across the southwestern region.
