Municipal Football Coaching Academy defeated Palashbari Talukjamira Football Academy by 2–1 goals in the opening match of the “Gaibandha 4 Feet 9 Inches Under-12 Football Tournament–2026”, organized by the Gaibandha District Football Players Association.

The colourful inauguration ceremony of the tournament was held on Friday (21 August) at 4:00 PM at the N.H. Modern High School Ground in Gaibandha. The event was inaugurated by the chief guest, Advocate Hanif Belal, Public Prosecutor of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-1 and former General Secretary of Gaibandha Town BNP.

Special guests included Md. Abu Bakar Siddique (Swapan), Treasurer of Gaibandha District BNP, prominent sports organizer, and Joint General Secretary of the District Football Players Association; Md. Ragib Hasan Chowdhury, President of Gaibandha District Jubo Dal; and S.M. Kamal Hossain, Fisheries Affairs Secretary of Gaibandha District BNP.

The ceremony was presided over by Md. Kamrul Hasan Selim, former General Secretary of Gaibandha District BNP, noted sports organizer, and Vice-President of the District Football Players Association.
From the very beginning, both teams displayed attacking football. However, Municipal Football Coaching Academy dominated the match and scored two goals during regulation time. Palashbari Talukjamira Football Academy managed to pull one goal back, but eventually suffered a narrow 2–1 defeat.

Speakers at the inauguration emphasized that sports play a vital role in keeping the younger generation away from drugs, terrorism, and social degradation. They noted that such tournaments contribute significantly to the physical and mental development of children and help strengthen the district’s sporting culture.

A large number of spectators, football enthusiasts, and local dignitaries attended the match. The exciting competition and enthusiastic crowd created a vibrant atmosphere, marking a successful and memorable start to the tournament.
