
National Fisheries Week begins in Bamna

"Build a sanctuary, fill the country with local fish, National Fisheries Week-2025 began in Bamna, Barguna with this slogan in mind.
On this occasion, a colourful rally was held from the Upazila Parishad Monday at 11:30 am. Later, Bamna UNO Md. Mizanur Rahman released fish fry in the Upazila Parishad pond. The National Fisheries Week will start from today, Monday, August 18 and will continue until August 25.
Later, Upazila Fisheries Officer Golam Mostafa delivered a welcome speech at a discussion meeting chaired by Upazila Executive Officer Md. Mizanur Rahman in the Bamna Upazila Parishad conference room. Bamna Upazila Social Service Officer Md. Mahmul Hasib, Education Officer Romanch Ahmed, Bamna Press Club President and Upazila BNP Convener Abu Naser Siddique also spoke at the time. Golam Kibria, Upazila BNP Joint Convener Md. Mizanur Rahman Majnu, SI Uttam Kumar, Bamna Press Club General Secretary Md. Nizam Uddin Molla, among others.
Upazila Executive Officer Mizanur Rahman said at the discussion meeting that National Fisheries Week is not only a symbol of fish farming, but also a symbol of protecting national resources. The government has taken various steps to protect fish resources, but sincere participation of the people is needed to make these initiatives successful. At the same time, he also said that Bangladesh is a treasure trove of fish, but native fish species are heading towards extinction. It is possible to increase fish production by controlling fishing during the breeding season, creating sanctuaries, releasing fry and making people aware. He highlighted the various steps taken by the government to protect fish and called on everyone to cooperate.
