One dead in lightning in Munshiganj

A boy named Tarikul Islam (12) died after being struck by lightning while collecting vegetables from a field in Sirajdikhan,
Munshiganj. His younger brother Minhaz (9) was injured in the same incident. The tragic event occurred at around 6:30 PM on Tuesday in the village of Paschim Shialdi under Sirajdikhan Upazila.
The deceased Tarikul and the injured Minhaz are sons of Abdus Salam from Shukrakandi village in Sherpur district. The family currently lives in a rented house belonging to Ali Hossain in Shialdi village of Sirajdikhan.
Abdus Salam, father of the victims, said he works as a farm laborer along with his wife and two sons. On Tuesday evening, while they were in the field tying bundles of vegetable shoots (data shak), the lightning struck suddenly, injuring both boys.
Dr. Jamshed Faridi, Health and Family Planning Officer of Sirajdikhan Upazila, stated that Tarikul had died before reaching the health complex. Minhaz became unwell due to the shock and flash of the lightning and is currently receiving treatment at the health complex.
