Industries Secretary Abdun Naser Khan on Friday stressed the necessity of integrating innovation, knowledge, and practical skills to maximize the utilization of limited national resources and boost productivity at lower costs and within shorter timeframes.

He made these remarks while addressing as the chief guest at the inauguration of an "Innovation Fair" organized at the BCIC College campus in Mirpur, Dhaka, on the occasion of National Productivity Day 2026 on Friday.

"Productivity means utilizing existing resources in the best possible manner to increase output at lower costs and in less time while achieving desired outcomes," the Industries Secretary said, adding that creating opportunities for future generations to harness their talent and creativity is essential for sustainable progress.

He noted that the innovative projects presented by students at the fair reflect how pressing national problems can be addressed through creative solutions. Highlighting specific initiatives such as artificial intelligence integration, waste reduction, power generation from waste, and organic fertilizer production, the secretary stated that these approaches are directly linked to productivity growth.

Underlining the importance of bridging education with practical capabilities, Abdun Naser Khan introduced the concept of "Skilledge" (Skill + Knowledge). He emphasized that academic knowledge alone is insufficient without corresponding practical skills, asserting that human resources equipped with both knowledge and efficiency will play a pivotal role in driving the nation's overall productivity.

Calling upon the current generation to foster an enabling environment for the youth, he remarked that every generation bears the responsibility of building a platform that enables the next generation to reach greater heights. He encouraged attendees to tour the exhibition, expressing optimism that such events would spark fresh ideas and prospective avenues for development.

The Industries Secretary formally inaugurated the fair, which featured 50 stalls displaying student-led innovative projects, and subsequently visited various exhibits across the venue.

Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Industries Md. Nuruzzaman, BSCIC Chairman Benojir Ahmed, Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) Chairman, Bangladesh Sugar and Food Industries Corporation Chairman, along with the Principal, faculty members, and students of BCIC College, were present at the event.
