The Qatar- based news channel Aljazeera  was  opened  in 1996. From the very beginning this channel has been known as a patron of militant terrorist groups .  Different terrorist organisations  are allegedly now running this channel.

This channel first came to limelight after broadcasting news of Osama- Bin Laden and Al-Qaeda.

From 2013 the channel has been a source of broadcasting news of Taleban, Al-Qaeda , IS and different terrorism groups  in the world.

In the meantime it has been published in the media that Al-Qaeda has been financing this channel .   The operation of Al- Qaeda and suicide occurrence in Afghanistan, bomb attack in London in 2007 were   broadcast by only this terror channel.

USA accused this channel by saying that this media   is against women empowerment, inspiring terrorism, using religion and it is also  a source of yellow journalism.

Al-Jazeera also broadcast different incidents  during the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina ‘s government in 2009.

At the end of 2017 the web site of this controversial channel was blocked by Saudi- Arabia, Arab Emirates, Egypt and Bahrain  for  provocative and controversial news . This media has set up an example of worst yellow journalism by focusing news on internal affairs of different countries which easily made public confusion and a threatened security of states.

In 2014 during the trial of war criminals in Bangladesh Al Jazeera broadcast different news and documents that the trials should be stopped as it will cause political unrest and introduced the war criminals as religious intellectuals.  Series of news against the International Crime Tribunal (ICT) were aired by this TV channel and their webpage.

 When the final verdict on war criminal Md Kamruzzaman  was announced the channel broadcast   a documentary titled  ‘Bangladesh Party Chief to hang for war crime ‘ where the number of  martyred mentioned three lakhs instead of 30 lakhs.

 Four members of the editorial section have resigned   from  AlJazeera  in  Doha .   They defy the partial policy of the editorial board  against Egypt .

Western countries consider this new portal as a channel  being a direct or indirect source of inspiration to extremisms .

 In November 2002 the Kuwait government banned its activities there. But after two and half years later in May 2005 it started its operation again.

Egypt government sentenced three journalists of AlJazeera in 2015 for false and febricated news and  supporters of Muslim terror group .   Some 22 journalists including Bureau Chief of AlJazeera Mohammad Fahim in Egypt reigned  as they are forced to yellow journalism ,  direct interaction with terrors and   making false political news .

Overall this is a controversial channel which patronizing terrorism and internal conflict in different countries. 

BFUJ demands ban on Al Jazeera

In the meantime different organisations have condemned the unethical and yellow journalism of Al Jazeera .

Leaders of BFUJ-Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists ,an apex body of journalists  demanded Al Jazeera’s ban for its engagement in tarnishing Bangladesh's bright image abroad,” read a statement by BFUJ.

The organisation has demanded to impose a ban on the broadcast of Qatar-based Al Jazeera in Bangladesh accusing it of serving an anti-national vested group's interest by tarnishing Bangladesh's image at the international level.

A BFUJ statement, signed by its President Molla Jalal and Acting Secretary General Abdul Mozid, in this regard was sent to the media on Friday. 

BFUJ, an organisation of journalists, condemned and protested the continuous "yellow journalism" of the Al Jazeera.

They said Al Jazeera has been banned in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan and Egypt for allegedly working for the Muslim Brotherhood, assisting terrorism, inciting extremism and violence, and plotting to overthrow the government. 

"We demand Al Jazeera's ban for its attempt to tarnish Bangladesh's bright image abroad," the statement read.

They also urged all other journalists' organisations in the country to raise their voice against such anti-national plots.

Bangabandhu Parishad, USA 

Besides, Dr Md Rabbi Alam, President , Bangabandhu Parishad, USA in a statement has termed the controversial media Al Jazeera as a paid agent and said, it is a deep rooted conspiracy against Bangladesh .

Protest meeting to condemn Al Jazeera’s propaganda 

Joybangla Sangbadik Mancha , Swdhinata Sangbadik Parishad and Bangabandhu Sangabadik Parishad, Bangladesh will organize protest rally and human chain condemning the false and motivated report of Al Jazeera’s in front of the National Press Club oat 11 am on Saturday, says a press release .

The leaders of the organisations have urged all journalist to attend the programme.
