Rajshahi Bureau
With the technical assistance of the Cyber Crime Unit of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP), mobile phones recovered in April 2025 were formally handed over to their owners on Monday.
The mobile handover ceremony was held at RMP Headquarters, where the chief guest, RMP Commissioner Mohammad Abu Sufiyan, was present. He handed over 31 mobile phones recovered by RMP’s Cyber Crime Unit to their respective owners. Additionally, 43 more mobile phones, recovered from various RMP police stations, have already been returned to their owners.
It is mentioned that these phones were lost not only in Rajshahi city but also in various districts across the country. Based on General Diaries (GD) filed at relevant police stations, the Cyber Crime Unit used modern technology to identify and recover the mobile phones.
Commissioner Mohammad Abu Sufiyan said, the technology-driven efforts of the Cyber Crime Unit are playing a significant role in recovering citizens’ lost mobiles, reflecting the police’s commitment to public service. He highlighted that even phones lost several years ago have been recovered, marking a notable achievement for RMP.
He further urged citizens who recovered their lost phones to spread awareness through social media, encouraging others to stay vigilant and sending a warning to criminals.
The owners who received their mobile phones expressed heartfelt gratitude to RMP and wholeheartedly appreciated this people-friendly initiative. They noted that this effort not only returned their lost property but also strengthened public trust in law enforcement agencies. They expressed hope that RMP’s humane and technology-driven services will continue in the future
