Some parties trying to fish in troubled waters to derail election: Khairul Kabir Khokon
Narsingdi Correspondent
BNP Joint Secretary General and Narsingdi District BNP President Khairul Kabir Khokon has alleged that certain quarters are determined to block BNP’s participation in the election. “If the people want to vote for BNP, then what’s the problem?” he questioned. He further stated, “Those who are politically bankrupt and orphaned, whose election deposits would be forfeited, are trying to fish in troubled waters. They are involved in various conspiracies to discredit the election process.”
He warned that such activities are enabling the return of fallen fascist forces into politics. “The unity that was built against fascism is now being divided. Baseless provocative statements are being made to malign the BNP. We are not anyone’s rival,” he added.
He made these remarks on Thursday at a rally organized by the Narsingdi unit of the Nationalist Lawyers Forum as part of the “March for Justice” program.
Khairul Kabir Khokon also said that fascist collaborators still remain in the judiciary and administration. “There can be no compromise with those who have committed crimes against humanity. We are committed to bringing them to justice,” he said.
He accused some parties of using the proportional representation (PR) system debate as a tactic to stir confusion and avoid facing elections. “Those who fear elections are the ones creating chaos by making such statements. Announce a clear election date based on the pulse of the people,” he urged.
On the topic of fascism, he declared, “Awami League won’t be able to return to power in the next hundred years. They are politically buried. The people of Bangladesh have revoked their right to do politics and no longer want to see them in public life.”
Indirectly referring to Jamaat-e-Islami and the National Citizen Party (NCP), he said, “If your mistakes bring back fascism, then you must bear the full responsibility.”
The rally was conducted by the forum’s General Secretary Adv Masudul Alam Bhuiyan.
Among others present were District Bar Association President Adv Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan, former Presidents Advocate Shahjahan and Advocate Abdul Baset Bhuiyan,General Secretary Advocate A.K.M. Nurul Islam Nurunnabi, former General Secretary Adv Abdul Kader Bhuiyan Titu, Joint Convenor Adv Md. Shahjahan Miah and Executive Member Adv Kazi Shishir Ahmed, among others.
