The Guiding Principle of Islam: Nurturing Individuals, Society, and Nation
Mohammad Rukanuddin
Islam, sometimes misunderstood, is a faith based on teachings that direct every single thing done in life. Islam, at its essence, is peace, kindness, and the improvement of humanity. It is a lifestyle that calls on people to be the best versions of themselves, to construct healthy and compassionate communities, and to make good contributions toward their country advancement. This is a principle guided by the Quran and the life of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), which prioritizes the development of individuals, society, and the nation as a whole. For the self, Islam is greatly concerned with morality and character building. It calls for a close relationship with Allah by praying, reflecting, and thanking Him. This assists people in searching for inner peace and meaning. As another facet, Islam also teaches virtues like honesty, integrity, kindness, and patience. They are taught to be truthful in their transaction, to fulfill their pledge, and to treat everyone with respect, even those on other beliefs or backgrounds. Giving to charity (Zakat) and helping the poor are not only acts of kindness but are compulsory for a Muslim, instilling empathy and kindness. The objective is to raise someone who not only is righteous but
also a good influence in the world.Apart from the individual, Islam provides a robust framework for forming a healthy and
harmonious society. It strongly advocates for close family ties with the family viewed as the cornerstone of society. Respect for elders, care for children, and brotherhood among brethren are fundamental tenets. Islam also supports fair social justice and equality. Discrimination is
abhorred and equity in all matters promoted. The Quran emphasizes the sanctity of the poor, orphans, and oppressed and demands that the Muslims lift their voices for justice and creating a world in which every individual shall have an equal opportunity. The word "Ummah," which describes the Muslim world in all parts of the globe, emphasizes the aspect of oneness and
brotherhood amongst all the Muslims in the entire universe, encouraging them to unite against tyranny and assist each other. Finally, teachings of Islam involve the country prosperity and well-being. Although greatly seen as a religious way of living, Islam also instructs civic responsibility and sound governance. It renders Muslims responsible and active citizens, to obey the law, and to assist their country in
its development. The pursuit of knowledge, for example, is highly encouraged under Islam, leading to tremendous achievements in the realms of science, medicine, and philosophy in the past. Learning which is encouraged by such a system is not just for one's own sake but for society good and the nation's good too. Muslims are urged to work for the benefit of all, to promote peace and stability, and strive towards a fair and prosperous society for all its citizens. Essentially, the Islamic guiding principle is an all-around approach to living. It is about finding a balance between spiritual commitment and earthly obligations. It lays out that faith is not merely
about rites, but about how the individual lives in the world and how he or she treats others. Through the development of individuals of good character, societies founded on justice and mercy, and the activism of citizens in shaping the country, Islam aims to create a world in which
peace, prosperity, and happiness will be realized for everyone. It is a call to action reminding us that our own faith should lead us to create a world better than the one that has gone before, notjust for ourselves but for all humanity.
