Three female train passengers were arrested by Santahar Railway Police with ten kilograms of cannabis packed in two school bags from the Kurigram Express train standing at platform number three of Santahar Railway Station in Adamdighi, Bogura.
The arrestees are: Koli Begum (27), daughter of the late Abul Kashem of the New Railway Station area in Kurigram Sadar Police Station; Lamia (21), daughter of Runju Matbor of Machuakhalir village in Gosairhat, Shariatpur district; and Mim Akter (19), daughter of Rashid Mia of Kashipur College Mor area in Phulbari, Kurigram. On Wednesday afternoon, a case was filed against them under the Narcotics Control Act at Santahar Railway Police Station, and they were sent to court.
On Wednesday at around 11:30 AM, the Dhaka-bound intercity Kurigram Express train from Kurigram arrived at platform number three of Santahar Junction Station. Based on a tip-off, a drug raid was conducted on the train, and the three were arrested.
According to police and case sources, the three female passengers were traveling towards Dhaka in seats 57, 58, and 59 of coach ‘Cha’ of the Kurigram Express train, which departed from Kurigram. However, their tickets were only booked from Rangpur to Natore. Traveling illegally and occupying seats, they were carrying ten kilograms of cannabis in two school bags. Based on secret information, police raided the train at platform number three of Santahar Station and arrested the three female drug-dealing passengers with the mentioned amount of cannabis.
OC of Santahar Railway Police Station, Habibur Rahman, said,
the arrestees are very cunning drug dealers. They were arrested based on secret information. After filing a case, they were sent to Bogura District Jail through court on Wednesday afternoon.
