Two drown as boat capsizes in Gazipur water body

Two people drowned after a boat carrying them capsized in a water body of Kapasia upazila in Gazipur district on Friday morning.
The deceased were identified as Bayezid Hossain, 35, from Mymensingh district, and Mahin, 16, from Sreepur upazila of Gazipur.
According to police and fire service sources, five friends went on a boat trip to collect water lilies from the Shapla Beel at Pachua village under Tok union around 9am.
At one point, their boat overturned, throwing all five into the water.
Bayezid died after drowning on the spot while the others were rescued and taken to the upazila health complex.
Mahin was declared dead by physicians upon arrival.
Officer-in-charge of Kapasia Police Station Md Zainal Abedin Mandal said police recovered the bodies and legal procedures are underway.
