
Unidentified body recovered from GK Canal area in Kushtia, panic in area

An unidentified floating body was recovered from the GK (Ganga-Kapotakkho) irrigation canal near Khazurtala in Halsa, Kushtia on Thursday at around 9:00 am.
Kushtia Model Police and a fire service team jointly recovered the body after being informed by locals.
According to local sources, several residents spotted a body floating in the canal in the morning and quickly alerted the police. The news spread rapidly, causing panic among locals and drawing a crowd to the scene.
Police said the recovered body belongs to a man estimated to be between 35 and 40 years old. He was wearing a shirt and pants. As the body was decomposed, it is believed the death occurred several days ago. No visible signs of injury were found on the body during the initial inspection.
OC of Kushtia Model Police Station said, upon receiving the information from locals, we went to the scene and recovered the body with the help of the fire service. The body has been sent to Kushtia General Hospital morgue for an autopsy. Necessary steps are being taken to determine the identity and cause of death.
Police also mentioned that they are checking with nearby police stations to see if any general diaries (GDs) have been filed regarding missing persons.
Meanwhile, the discovery of a body in the canal beside a busy roadway has caused widespread fear and concern in the area. Many locals suspect it could be a case of premeditated murder.
Police stated that the exact cause of death will be confirmed once the autopsy report is received.
