Worker's body found two days after missing in Kabirhat

Police have recovered the body of a brick kiln worker named Md. Sohel Rana, 24, two days after he mysteriously disappeared in Kabirhat Upazila of Noakhali. His body was recovered floating in a pond near the office of Mia 'Raji Saheb Bricks Manufacturing' in Purba Rajurgaon village of Sundalpur union of the upazila on Sunday morning, The deceased, Sohel Rana, was the son of Oli Uddin of Uttar Shantipur village in Chanandi union of Hatia upazila. He was working as a laborer at the local brick kiln in Kabirhat.

The deceased's father, Oli Uddin, claimed that his son did not go to work last Friday morning. That afternoon, Sohel's uncles Kamal and Altab tried to forcefully take him to the brick kiln. At that time, a heated argument broke out between them. After that, Sohel Rana had been missing since Friday evening. Family members searched for him in various places but could not find any trace of him.

On Sunday morning, other local workers saw a body floating in a pond near the brick kiln office and informed the police. Later, Kabirhat police station went to the spot and recovered the body. Family members who reached the spot identified the body as that of the missing Sohel Runner.

Kabirhat Police Station OC Nizam Uddin Bhuiyan said, "Initially, it is believed that Sohel Rana was suffering from epilepsy and may have died after falling into the water. However, we have started an investigation to reveal the real cause of death. The matter will become clearer once we receive the autopsy report."
