Workshop on Teesta Irrigation Project held In Rangpur

A one-day workshop titled "Informing and reviewing the actual progress of the project" was held under the project titled Teesta Irrigation Project Completion and Expansion.

The actual progress of the project was informed and reviewed by the Deputy Chief Extension Officer (Comm. Dev.), Bangladesh Water Development Board, Rangpur, under the supervision of Rangpur Water Development Circle-2, in a hall of the popular tourist center vinno jagat of Rangpur Sadar Upazila, on Monday.

 The chief guest was Md. Sahbubar Rahman, Chief Engineer of Bangladesh Water Development Board Northern Region Rangpur, Md. Masud Ka Az Dalrim, Chief Water Management (Comm. Dev) of Bangladesh Water Development Board Dhaka, Md. Ahsan Habib, Superintending Engineer of Bangladesh Water Development Board Rangpur Circle-1, Md. Krishna Kamal Chandra Sarkar, Superintending Engineer of Thakurgaon Water Development Circle, Md. Rabiul Islam, Executive Engineer of Rangpur Water Development Division, Md. Atiqur Rahman, Executive Engineer of Nilphamari Water Development Division, Md. Amitabh Chowdhury, Executive Engineer of Dalia Water Development Division, S. M. Sakhawat Rahman, Sub-Divisional Engineer, Senior Associate Director of Rangpur Water Development Circle-2, and various officers and employees of Bangladesh Water Development Board Northern Region, and officials of Administration, Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries, Animal Resources, Rice Research Institute and representatives of Water Management Federation, Water Management Association of 4 Divisions.

  The program ended in the presence of farmers' representatives and student representatives. The speakers at the program mentioned in their speeches that the Teesta Irrigation Project Completion and Expansion Report listed the main components of the Teesta Barrage Project as follows: Barrage - 1 (length - 645 meters, 44 gates, maximum water flow capacity - 4.50 lakh cusecs) Canal Head Regulator - 1 (length - 110 meters, 8 gates, water flow capacity - 10,00 thousand cusecs) Silt Trap - 45 hectares (length - 838 meters, average width - 533 meters, silt trap capacity - 0.52 million tons / year) Flood Bypass - length 610 meters. Cumulative Progress - Financial (in percentage and Taka): 44.43%, Taka 64539.72 lakh, and Actual: 55.75% Progress in FY 2024-25 - Financial (in percentage and Taka): 13.16% and 19120.12 lakh Dhaka, Actual: 17.75% (up to 15-06-2025) ADP/RADP Allocation: ADP Allocation in FY 2024-25: Taka 26238.00 lakh and RADP Allocation-Taka 30438.00 lakh. Up to 1st, 2nd and 3rd installments-Taka 19138.12 lakh have been released. 4th installment go has been issued.
