Youth stabbed to death by drug dealer in Chandpur

A youth named Md. Mostafa (27) was allegedly stabbed to death by an identified drug dealer in Faridganj, Chandpur.
A youth named Md. Mostafa (27) was allegedly stabbed to death by an identified drug dealer in Faridganj, Chandpur.
He is a resident of Shashiali village in Paikpara Uttar Union of the upazila and is the son of the deceased Didar Hossain. Mostafa was a CNG auto rickshaw driver and father of one child.
He died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 2 am on Wednesday (June 19). Earlier, on June 16, the deceased Mostafa's brother Md. Alauddin filed a written complaint with Faridganj Police Station.
According to local sources and family, identified drug dealer Sohel and his associates called Mostafa from his house on the night of June 12 (Thursday). Later, he was beaten and stabbed and seriously injured. First, he was taken to Chandpur Government General Hospital, and later, when his condition deteriorated, he was transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. He died there while undergoing treatment.
The deceased's brother Md. Alauddin said, "On the night of the incident, Sohel Gangra called my brother from our house at 10:30 pm. Later, he beat him and stabbed him in the back, which injured his kidney. We took him to the hospital with the help of locals. He died in Dhaka while undergoing treatment. We want justice for our brother's murder."
It is learnt that Mustafa and the accused Sohel are residents of the same area. Sohel's brother Faisal took Tk 4,600 from a local businessman Md. Jahangir to buy some products. But Faisal embezzled the money. Since businessman Jahangir is Mustafa's relative, a dispute started when he asked Faisal for the money. This dispute later led to a bloody incident.
Locals said that Sohel has been involved in drug dealing in the Gangra area for a long time. They have also been arrested with drugs several times. Many believe that Mustafa was killed in a planned manner because he opposed drugs.
Fardganj Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Nurul Alam said, a case has been registered against four people based on the complaint of the deceased’s brother Alauddin. Three of them have been arrested and sent to court. One is still absconding. The case is now being converted into a murder case as the victim has died.”
