500 people received free eye care at initiative of Nilphamari Press Club

A free eye care camp was  held in Nilphamari under the joint initiative by Nilphamari Press Club and Mariam Eye Hospital, Saidpur   from 9am to 4 pm on Wednesday at the Press Club premises in Shahipara, the district town.
 
Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Nairuzzaman inaugurated the camp as the chief guest at the Press Club premises in the morning
 
Zila Parishad Chief Executive Officer Dipankar Roy and Sadar UNO  Saiful Islam were present  special guests.
 
Press Club General Secretary Nur Alam delivered a welcome speech at the inaugural ceremony presided over by Nilphamari Press Club President (acting) Atiar Rahman.
Also speaking were Zakir Hossain, Deputy General Manager (DGM) of Maryam Eye Hospital, Subhas Bishwas, Joint General Secretary of Nilphamari Press Club, Nasir Uddan Shah Milon, Publicity and Publication Secretary and Mosharraf Hossain, Sports Secretary.
 
Free medical services were provided to 500 eye patients in the day-long camp.
Out of these, 140 were given glasses, 150 were given medicines and 80 were selected for cataract surgery and the rest were given primary medical services.
 
Roksana Begum of Taraganj Upazila of Rangpur district, who came for treatment, said, I have various eye complications. I came here from Taraganj after knowing that Nilphamari Press Club is holding a free camp. The doctor examined me and selected me for cataract surgery. I am happy to get such  service.
Laila Begum, who came for treatment from Babupara, Syedpur, said, I came to Nilphamari Press Club after hearing the campaign. I also need to have a cataract operation and I am able to do this operation for free of cost. 
For this, I express my gratitude to the initiative organization.
 
Nur Alam, General Secretary of Nilphamari Press Club, said that we have organized this eye camp as part of various public welfare and social programs. There are many people who are suffering from various eye diseases.
Thinking of them, Nilphamari Press Club took the initiative of this camp under the patronage of Maryam Eye Hospital.
 
Zakir Hossain, Deputy General Manager (DGM) of Maryam Eye Hospital, said that this camp is being run with the financial support of Mutual Trust Bank PLC.
 
Treatment for all eye diseases is provided free of charge and the patients are sent to their respective homes after completing the operation at Maryam Eye Hospital located in Syedpur.
 
The inaugural ceremony was hosted by Ariful Islam Arif, member of the executive committee of Nilphamari Press Club, and Alamgir Hossain, Administrative Officer of Maryam Eye Hospital.
Medical services were provided at the day-long camp by specialist doctor Shafiul Hasan Shakil of Maryam Eye Hospital.
