
RAB raids in Jashore : Accused of 12 cases Mintu Gazi arrested with 100- kg of marijuana

An identified drug dealer named Mintu Gazi (48) has been arrested in Jashore along with 100 kg of marijuana.
RAB said he is an accused in 12 drug cases.
A press release from RAB-6 said that based on an anti-drug operation and intelligence information, he was arrested from the Rangdhanu Market area of Sheikhhati Jamrultala intersection in Jessore suburb on Thursday evening. The operation was led by an operational team from RAB-6, Jashore camp.
Based on secret information, RAB came to know that a consignment of marijuana was stored in a cloth shop under the Rangdhanu Market in Sheikhhati area. When RAB members reached there, Mintu Gazi tried to close the shop and escape. Later, he was arrested and his shop was searched.
A search was conducted in the presence of witnesses and 100 kg of marijuana wrapped in a cloth gauze in a unique way was recovered from his shop. The market value of which is about 2 million taka.
Arrested Mintu Gazi admitted in the initial interrogation that he had been collecting various drugs including marijuana from the border areas for a long time and supplying them to different parts of the country including Jashore.
RAB said that Mintu Gazi along with the drugs recovered in this incident has been handed over to Jessore Kotwali Police Station and a case has been filed against him under the Narcotics Control Act.
RAB-6 said that anti-drug activities will be further strengthened and regular operations will continue against such criminals in the southwestern region including Jashore.
