Time has come for self-purification after July Revolution: Information Secretary

Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Mahbuba Farzana said that the time has come for self-purification following the July Revolution.
She emphasized that government officials must perform their duties with honesty and impartiality, keeping this spirit in mind.
Speaking at a discussion with officials at the Khulna regional station of Bangladesh Betar on Friday following her visit , the Secretary said, students and citizens have sacrificed their lives in the anti-discrimination movement. We are standing on the debt of their blood.
Greater honesty is now essential in public service.Government institutions must be treated as one’s own to foster integrity and responsibility.
Mutual respect and tolerance among colleagues are vital.
Bangladesh Betar can play a significant role in combating misinformation and fake news, especially among marginalized communities.
During the meeting, the Secretary stressed the need to enhance the quality of programs aired by Bangladesh Television (BTV) and Bangladesh Betar, recalling the golden era when these platforms broadcasted timeless dramas and popular shows. She urged all involved to restore that public appeal.
“We must make Betar more people-oriented and reach the general public effectively. Moreover, it's essential to reduce dependence solely on government funding by increasing self-generated income through audience-driven content and sponsorships,” she added.
Public institutions should no longer be burdens on the state but transformed into profitable ventures.
There is a need for modern ICT-based training and skill development opportunities for employees of these organizations.

Earlier in the day, Secretary Mahbuba Farzana also held a meeting with officials from various government offices under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting at the Khulna Circuit House.
She later visited the proposed site for the Modern Information Complex and the Khulna sub-center of Bangladesh Television (BTV).
