
3-month ban on fishing in Kaptai Lake from May 1

Rangamati Deputy Commissioner Md. Habib Ullah Maruf has directed the administration to be strict in the anti-smuggling and anti-drug operations in Rangamati.
He gave this instruction at the District Law and Order Committee meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner's conference room at 10 am on Wednesday. The meeting decided to take necessary steps to ensure cleanliness of the city, road discipline, security at the border, removal of unfit vehicles from the roads, and uninterrupted power supply.It was informed in the meeting that all types of fish harvesting, transportation, storage, buying and selling and drying have been completely banned from May 1 to July 31. In addition, those who violate the ban will be punished with jail, fine or both according to the Fisheries Protection and Conservation Act, 1950.In the meeting Additional Superintendent of Police Nadira Noor, Additional Director of the BGB Sector Md. Taufiqur Rahman, Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr. Amit Dey, Executive Engineer of the Roads and Highways Department Department Sabuj Chakma, Executive Engineer of the LGED Ahmed Shafi, Executive Engineer of the Public Health Engineering Department Parag Barua, Deputy Director of the District Statistics Office Md. Nur-uz-Zaman, Assistant Director of the District Narcotics Control Department M Saiful Islam and officials from various departments were present.
