750 liters of diesel seized from rooftop water tank in Subarnachar

The administration has seized 750 liters of diesel illegally stored in a rooftop water tank of a house in Char Jabbar Union of Subarnachar Upazila of Noakhali. The person involved in the incident has also been fined.
On Thursday night, Executive Magistrate and Subarnachar UNO Aqib Osman conducted a raid based on a tip-off. During the raid, evidence of a large amount of diesel being stored in the rooftop water tank of the house of Basir Sareng alias Basu Serang was found.
Local sources said that fuel oil was being secretly stored using water tanks for some days. When the fact that the tanks contained oil instead of water came to light, there was a stir in the area. Locals alleged that storing such a large amount of flammable material in a populated area is very risky. Initially, it is believed that the oil was stored for the purpose of illegal sale.
UNO Akib Osman said that the seized 750 liters of diesel were confiscated and sold at an immediate auction at depot prices to a licensed trader at Char Hasan Bhuiyan Hat Bazar.
At that time, Basu Serang was fined Tk 10,000 for illegally storing flammable substances under the Petroleum Act, 2016, which was immediately collected.
