Anti corruption debate competition held in Kathalia

An anti-corruption debate competition was held in the Upazila Parishad meeting room on Monday at the initiative of Kathalia Upazila Corruption Prevention Committee of Jhalakathi and in collaboration with Pirojpur District Office of the Anti-Corruption Commission.
Upazila Corruption Prevention Committee President Principal AKM Kamruzzaman presided over the meeting, with UNO Zahirul Islam as the chief guest. Police Officer-in-Charge Mong Chenla, Upazila Animal Resources Officer Dr. HM Jamshed Azad, Upazila Agricultural Extension Officer Mosa. Tahmida Tasrin, Upazila Academic Supervisor Md. Aminul Islam were the special guests. Freedom fighter Md. Fazlul Haque Mridha, Upazila BNP Acting President Md. Jalalur Rahman Akon, The Hunger Project Bangladesh Peace Ambassador Network Barisal Region Coordinator and learned judge of the event, journalist Faruk Hossain Khan, Vice President of Upazila Corruption Prevention Committee Principal Md. Idris Mia, Vice President of Upazila Corruption Prevention Committee Selina Papri and General Secretary of Upazila Corruption Prevention Committee Prof Md. Abdul Halim.
Students of Kathalia Government Model Pilot High School, Kathalia Pilot Girls School and College, Chingrakhali Secondary School and Amua Bandar Amir Mollah Secondary School participated in the competition. The topics of the debate were “Prevention rather than suppression of corruption is the last resort to build a corruption-free state”, “Not scarcity, but boundless greed is the main cause of corruption” and “Corruption explodes only due to lack of family values”.
The students of Kathalia Government Pilot High School emerged as champions in the competition. And the students of Amua Bandar Amir Mollah Secondary School emerged as runners-up. At the end, crests and prizes were distributed to the winners and participants of the competition.
