
Army operation in Manikchhari recovers liquor, yaba, one arrested

A separate operation in Manikchhari, Khagrachari, by an operational team of the Manikchhari Army Camp under the Sindukchhari Zone of the Army, recovered 230 pitches of yaba (narcotic) and 152 liters of distilled liquor.
According to army sources, on Wednesday night, the army conducted a raid in the Uttar Garitana area of the upazila based on a secret tip-off and recovered 152 liters of distilled liquor filled with saline packets. During this, identified liquor trader Bandiram Tripura (44) of the Uttar Garitana area was arrested. It is learnt that these liquors were packaged for smuggling to different parts of the country including Chittagong. Earlier, at 3:30 pm, the army conducted a raid in the Tintohari Headquarters area of the upazila and seized 230 pitches of yaba based on a tip-off about the sale of narcotics (yaba). However, no one was arrested in the incident.
After the operation, the arrested person and the seized liquor and yaba were handed over to the Manikchhari Police Station. The army also said that such operations will continue in the relevant areas of responsibility.
Sheikh Mahmudul Hasan Rubel, the officer-in-charge of Manikchhari Police Station, confirmed the incident and said, "Proper legal steps have been taken to destroy the illegal liquor and yaba and legal action has been taken against the arrested person."
