Bagerhat Workshop Maps Out Future of Regional Shrimp Farming
A regional workshop titled Annual Research Progress Review (2025-2026) and Research Project Proposal (2026-2027) was held at the Bagerhat Shrimp Research Center under the Bangladesh Fisheries Research Institute.
Md. Jahangir Alam, Director of the Khulna Division of the Department of Fisheries, was present as the chief guest in this day-long workshop from the morning of Wednesday.
Bagerhat Shrimp Research Center Chief Scientific Officer Dr. Akheri Naima presided over by Professor Dr. Sheikh Mustafizur Rahman, Head of the FMRT Discipline Department of Khulna University, was present as the guest of honor.
Also, Professor Dr. Md. Golam Sarwar, Professor of the FMRT Discipline Department of Khulna University, was present as the special guest in the workshop. Dr. Md. Lokman Ali, Head of the Aquaculture Department of Patuakhali University of Science and Technology.
The workshop will cover 9 sessions on fisheries and shrimp farming including Bioremediation of potential toxicants and synthetic polymers from farmed fish and shrimp, Organic methods for safe food, Effectiveness of chitosan-based edible coatings to reduce post-harvest losses and preserve shrimp quality, Development of probiotic-derived zinc oxide nanoparticles for sustainable shrimp health management (new)
Effects Impact of household cooking processes on pesticide residues in shellfish (shrimp and crab) and assessment of associated human health risks.
