Md. Lavlu Sheikh,  Lalmonirhat.

Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu has said that the country will survive only if farmers survive. Farmers' contribution to ensuring the country's food security is immense. The overall development of the country is not possible without the development of farmers.

He said, "Agriculture must be advanced through modern and safe management. Along with increasing production, equal importance must be given to issues such as farmers' income, standard of living, public health and environmental protection."

He made these remarks while addressing the chief guest at the Patna Congress-2026 organized under the 'Program on Agricultural and Rural Transformation for Nutrition, Entrepreneurship and Resilience in Bangladesh (PARTNERS)' project on agriculture and rural transformation at the Lalmonirhat Sadar Upazila Parishad Hallroom on Saturda at 11:30 am.

Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu said that the use of excessive harmful pesticides in agriculture should be reduced and a safe and environmentally friendly agricultural system should be moved forward. At the same time, farmers should be discouraged from tobacco cultivation and encouraged to produce profitable and nutritious crops.

Earlier in the morning, he inaugurated the 'Patna Congress-2026' by cutting the red ribbon at the Upazila Parishad Hall. Later, he visited the stalls on various agricultural technologies and production displayed at the fair and spoke to the farmers.

The goals and activities of the Patna project were highlighted in a discussion meeting held under the chairmanship of Dr. Md. Saikhul Arifin, Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension, Lalmonirhat. The meeting was moderated by Agricultural Extension Officer Md. Nuruzzaman Rony.
