Customs strike stops trades at Burimari Port

Hatibandha (Lalmonirhat) Correspondent

All trades  at Burimari Land Port in Lalmonirhat has stopped from Saturday morning.  Customs officers are on strike, and all offices are locked. No goods are going in or out.

The strike was called by the “NBR Reform Unity Council.” They want the NBR Chairman, Mr. Md. Abdur Rahman Khan, to be removed. Customs officers across the country are joining the protest.

Many trucks with goods are stuck at the border. Traders fear the goods may spoil, causing big losses. Port workers have lost their jobs and are worried about their income.

People with passports and visas can still cross the border through immigration.

The strike will continue until new instructions come from the protest leaders. Businesspeople are urging the government to solve the problem quickly to save trade and the local economy.
