Dhaka Deputy Commissioner (DC) and District Magistrate Farida Khanom said,  communal harmony serves as Bangladesh's longstanding tradition and national strength, emphasizing that people of diverse faiths and communities have coexisted with mutual respect, empathy, and friendship for generations.

She made these remarks on Monday afternoon while inspecting the Panchabati Ashram Sarbajanin Puja Mandap in Savar Municipality.

DC Farida Khanom noted that the Sharadiya Durga Puja is being celebrated across Dhaka district in a peaceful, orderly, and festive atmosphere. She highlighted that the district administration remains on high alert to guarantee absolute security across all worship venues, with executive magistrates, police, Ansar members, intelligence personnel, and community volunteers working in active coordination.

"Our primary goal is to ensure that followers of every faith can observe their religious rituals freely, safely, and joyfully," DC Farida Khanom asserted. "If anyone attempts to disrupt the festive atmosphere through sabotage, disorder, or untoward incidents, the administration stands fully prepared to respond. No negligence or laxity will be tolerated."

Warning against online rumors and misinformation, she urged citizens to report suspicious activities to law enforcement immediately and exercise responsibility on social media rather than being swayed by provocative posts.

According to official data from the Dhaka District Administration, a total of 1,127 puja mandaps are hosting Durga Puja celebrations across Dhaka metropolis and its upazilas this year. This includes 238 mandaps in Savar, 235 in Dhamrai, 201 in Nawabganj, 153 in Keraniganj, 42 in Dohar, and 258 across the Dhaka metropolitan area.

Minister of State for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku, MP Dr. Dewan Mohammad Salahuddin, Dhaka Zila Parishad Administrator Md. Yeasin Ferdous Murad, and Savar UNO  Md. Saiful Islam were present.
