Under the "Integrated Livestock Development Project for Riverine Char Areas" of Dhaka, Manikganj, Munshiganj, Rajbari, Faridpur, Madaripur, and Shariatpur districts, ducks and feed were distributed among 130 beneficiaries in Rajbari’s Pangsha upazila.

The distribution event took place on Tuesday at 12:00 PM in the premises of the Upazila Parishad. It was organized by the Pangsha Upazila Livestock Office and Veterinary Hospital.

The UNO  S.M. Abu Darda, was present as the chief guest. Special guests included District Livestock Officer Dr. Prakash Ranjan Biswas and Upazila Livestock Officer Dr. Prithwij Kumar Das.

Each beneficiary received 21 ducks and 75 kg of feed.

It is learnt that the livestock/equipment distribution activities under the project are being implemented for beneficiaries from the riverine char areas of Dhaka, Manikganj, Munshiganj, Rajbari, Faridpur, Madaripur, and Shariatpur.

District Livestock Officer Dr. Prakash Ranjan Biswas stated that the beneficiaries were first provided with training under the project. They were given a design to construct duck houses. After constructing the houses as per the design and submitting photos, an amount of BDT 8,800 was sent to their mobile accounts. Following that, each beneficiary received 21 ducks and 75 kg of feed. Two more rounds of feed distribution are planned.

He also mentioned that, in phases, goats, sheep, chickens, and cattle will be distributed to other beneficiary groups under the same project.

He believes such initiatives will play a significant role in creating self-employment and improving the economic conditions of farmers in the char areas.
