Expatriate's house looted in Mirsarai

A child was held at knifepoint at the home of an expatriate in Mirsarai, Chittagong, and gold ornaments and cash were looted at 3 am on Monday at the house of Md. Helal Uddin, a resident of Mollabari, Madhyam Azamnagar village, Hinguli Union No. 2 of the upazila.
Rizia Begum, housewife of the family who was robbed, said, "The wife of the eldest son who was abroad at night, her one-month-old daughter, her younger son, a visiting daughter, her husband and their two-year-old son were alone in the house next to the road. I woke up after hearing a knock on the kitchen door and then on the bedroom door in the middle of the night. When I asked who was knocking on the door, 8-10 members of the robbers broke down the front door of the bedroom with a hatchet and entered the house.
They had iron rods, hatchets and local sharp weapons in their hands. The robbers, wearing masks and shorts, held a sharp knife to the throats of one-month-old daughter Mittaul Farin and two-year-old son Md. Saifan and threatened to cut their throats. At that time, they asked them to give everything inside the house. They tied everyone up and locked them in a room, opened cupboards in different rooms of the house and took 7 tons of gold ornaments, 30,000 taka in cash and a mobile phone. They broke and left another mobile phone.
After the robbers left, neighbors heard screams and came to rescue them. The police of Zorarganj police station arrived at 6 am on Tuesday and took information. The family members said that they will file a written complaint with the police station regarding the robbery.
When asked about this, Jorarganj Police Station OC Abdul Halim said, "Police were sent there early on Monday morning after receiving information about a robbery in Madhyam Azamnagar village of Hinguli Union late on Monday night.
A gang has formed in that area. Legal action will be taken after a proper investigation to prevent such incidents by filing complaints."
