A press conference and briefing session was held in Betagi upazila of Barguna to outline the execution methodology, operational goals, and implementation process of the nationwide Family Card Program, aimed at bolstering social safety nets and achieving self-reliant households.

Jointly organized by the Betagi Upazila Administration and the Upazila Social Services Office, the session took place at the Upazila Parishad conference room on Monday.

UNO Muh. Saddam Hossain, Upazila Social Services Officer Md. Abdullah Al Mamun, former general secretary of Upazila BNP Md. Jalilur Rahman Khan Nanna, former joint convener of Upazila BNP Md. Nurul Islam Panna, and former president of Pourashava BNP Md. Habibur Rahman Khan Nanna attended the event alongside local journalists from print and electronic media.

Speaking at the meeting, officials emphasized the critical need for collecting accurate field data to identify eligible heads of households. Speakers urged enumerators and field officers to maintain transparency and called upon the public to cooperate by providing accurate information.

Betagi UNO Muh. Saddam Hossain said,  every stage of the data collection drive must adhere strictly to government guidelines to ensure complete transparency and accountability.

A total of 66,815 enumerators and 6,681 supervisors have been deployed across the country, having already completed their initial training. The initiative aims to collect and compile demographic data for approximately 4.85 crore families into a centralized digital database by December 2026.

Under the framework, enumerators will conduct door-to-door visits using specialized tablet devices connected to cellular networks, directly uploading field entries to the live online database.

For the current fiscal year, the government has set a target to issue Family Cards and financial allowances to 40 lakh new female heads of households, with plans to cover all eligible female family heads over the next three fiscal years.

Project officials expressed optimism that accurate data gathering and transparent beneficiary selection will significantly enhance women's financial empowerment, strengthen social security, and drive socio-economic development across vulnerable households.
