A family in the Shakhari Bazar area of Munshiganj Sadar Upazila has allegedly been assaulted and forcefully evicted from their home by local miscreants, who then locked the house.
In response to the incident, the victim, Nasima Begum (44), filed a case in court on Wednesday. Senior Judicial Magistrate Manik Das of Munshiganj Amli Court-1 accepted the case and ordered the District Detective Police (DB) to investigate and submit a report.
Court Bench Assistant (Peshkar) Imran Hossain confirmed the matter.
According to the case statement and court sources, the conflict arose over the distribution of ancestral property and the installation of a tube well. On the night of April 8 at around 10 PM, Nasima’s brother-in-law Ramzan Madbar, his wife Khorsheda Begum, and their two sons, Jisan and Arab, allegedly entered Nasima's house and launched an attack. During the incident, Nasima, her son Junaid, husband Kabir Madbar, and daughters Swapna and Mithila Akter were reportedly beaten and seriously injured with sharp weapons.
Following the attack, Nasima Begum was admitted to Munshiganj Sadar General Hospital. However, on April 10, just two days after the incident, Jisan allegedly attempted another attack at the hospital, prompting Nasima to flee to Dhaka for treatment out of fear.
While Nasima and her family were undergoing treatment, the accused reportedly locked their house. When the family later tried to return home, the accused prevented them and continued issuing threats on their lives. Fearing for their safety, the family has since been in hiding at various locations.
Nasima Begum stated, “My brother-in-law and his sons beat us and locked us out of our home. We’ve been on the run for one and a half months and cannot return home. That’s why I turned to the court for justice.”
Adv Shamim Bepari, the legal counsel for Nasima, added, “The family from Shakhari Bazar in Sadar Upazila was forcibly evicted and not allowed to return home. As a result, Nasima Begum filed a case in court, and the judge has directed the District Detective Branch (DB) to investigate the matter.”
