Samsuddin Mia Jhunu, former joint general secretary of Boalmari Upazila BNP, has strongly refuted allegations brought against him by a local Jamaat-e-Islami leader, terming them entirely false, baseless, and politically motivated.

He made the remarks during a press conference held at the Panjeree Model Madrasa near the Boalmari municipal building on Sunday.

Jhunu asserted that the allegations made by Syed Niamul Hasan, the Ameer of Boalmari Pourashava Jamaat-e-Islami, lack any factual basis. He claimed that a quarter had previously provided misleading information to the railway authorities in an attempt to secure a lease for a plot of railway land currently under his legitimate possession, trying to transfer it to one Md. Abul Kashem Mahmud.

Jhunu explained that upon uncovering the irregularities, the Deputy Commissioner of the Railway's Divisional Estate and Building Department cancelled Abul Kashem Mahmud's license and forfeited his fees on November 22, 2005. Although Mahmud subsequently filed a writ petition with the High Court, the court ultimately ruled in Jhunu's favor after evaluating the legal merits of the case.

The BNP leader also completely denied the allegations of illegally selling railway property. He clarified that several local individuals have taken valid commercial leases directly from the railway authorities and are operating businesses in structures built on the land, holding all necessary legal documentation.

Jhunu alleged that a vested group has been systematically spreading propaganda to tarnish his personal and political reputation.

The press conference was attended by former BNP organizing secretary Mojibur Rahman Babu, former municipal councillor Minhajur Rahman Lipon, and BNP leader Jahangir Alam Mukul Mia, among others.
