Five students of DU get Suruchi Bala Paul Trust Fund scholarship

Five meritorious students from various departments of Dhaka University have received the ‘Suruchi Bala Paul Trust Fund’ scholarship.

 Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University, Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan on Thursday attended a program as chief guest in the meeting room adjacent to the Vice-Chancellor’s office and handed over the scholarship cheques to the students.

Treasurer of Dhaka University, Prof Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, presided over the event. Also present were Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies Prof Dr. Mahmud Osman Imam, Chairman of the Department of Management Prof Dr. Mohammad Toufiqul Islam, Proctor Associate Professor Saifuddin Ahmed, Acting Registrar Munsi Shams Uddin Ahmed, and donor of the Trust Fund Dr. Tapas Chandra Paul.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan congratulated the scholarship recipients, saying this scholarship is a significant recognition of their talent. He urged the students to work for human welfare with a sense of responsibility toward society. Paying tribute to the memory of the late Suruchi Bala Pal, he said she was a socially conscious person with moral values. He thanked Dr. Tapas Chandra Pal for establishing the trust fund in memory of his mother. He also called upon other alumni to come forward for the development of the university by following this example.

The scholarship recipients are: Md. Ibrahim Sohel (Management), Tanmoy Hossain Siam (Economics), Md. Shahriar Alam Emon (Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology), Stalin Chakma (Pharmacy), and Mehedi Hasan (Electrical and Electronic Engineering).
