
Four arrested from gambling den in Sundarganj

Police arrested four gamblers red-handed from a gambling den in Sundarganj, Gaibandha on Thursday night.
Based on a secret tip-off, the police conducted a raid after identifying the location of the gambling den inside the bamboo grove on the south side of the Sundarganj Municipality Complex. At that time, four people were arrested while playing along with gambling equipment.
The arrested are Kamruzzaman Sardar Sarwar (55), a resident of Collegepara area of Ward No. 8 of Sundarganj Municipality and younger brother of former Belka Union Parishad Chairman Zahurul Haque Sardar, Md. Mokarram Hossain (55), son of the late Mujibur Rahman of the same area, Entazul Haque Hero (50), son of the late Khalilur Rahman Sarkar of Shakhabari area of Bamanjal Mohalla, and Bishwanath Das (57), son of the late Ramesh Chandra Das of Daspara village of Ward No. 9 of the municipality.
Sundarganj Police Station OC Abdul Hakim Azad said, "A case was filed against four people caught red-handed while gambling under Sections 3/4 of the Gambling Act of 1867 and sent to the learned court."
