The government is firmly committed to developing domestic industries, generating employment opportunities, and building a technology-driven economy, Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology Minister Faqir  Mahbub Anam said on Tuesday. 

The minister, who also holds the portfolio for the Ministry of Science and Technology, made the remarks during a view-exchange meeting with officials and employees after inspecting the operations of Bangladesh Cable Shilpa Limited in Khulna. Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Administrator Nazrul Islam Monju was also present at the event.

Minister Anam emphasized that the country’s industrial sector could be elevated to new heights by combining skilled human resources, innovation, and modern management practices within the production sector. Highlighting the critical role of domestic enterprises in strengthening Bangladesh's telecommunications infrastructure, he noted that Bangladesh Cable Shilpa Limited continues to make vital contributions to the development of the country's communication and ICT sectors. He urged the institution to move forward by boosting its technological capacity and manufacturing international-standard products.

Pointing out that Bangladesh Cable Shilpa Limited produces various generations of cables, the minister stressed the necessity of continuously replacing outdated technologies with modern alternatives. He also underlined the importance of adopting effective planning, robust marketing policies, fast distribution channels, and building a proactive marketing network to maximize the company's market potential.

During his visit, the minister toured different phases of the production line, observed the manufacturing processes, and placed heavy emphasis on boosting overall productivity, ensuring strict quality control, and maximizing the use of modern technology.

Praising the dedication, professionalism, and competence of the workforce, Minister Anam urged everyone to work collectively for the comprehensive growth of the organization. Before concluding his visit, the minister planted a local mango sapling on the premises of Bangladesh Cable Shilpa Limited. Senior officials of the company, who were present.
