Human chain in Khagrachhari demanding security in SAJEK,  lifting of travel ban

Khagrachhari Correspondent

A human chain has been held in Khagrachari demanding that SAJEK ensure overall security of tourists and
the administration's ban on travel be lifted.

The human chain was held at Shapla Chattar in the district town on Wednesday under the banner of tourism-related people and local businessmen.

Workers of CNG, Mahindra, Jeep, Pickup and owners and employees of hotels, resorts and cottages participated in the human chain demanding the lifting of the road blockade by two regional armed organizations in the hills and the ban on tourists' travel imposed by the administration.

At this time, the speakers said that the country's popular tourist destination Sajek Valley has become unsafe for tourists due to the adverse impact on the tourism economy due to the struggle of two armed groups, UPDF (Main) and JSS (Santu), in the hills. As a result, everyone involved in the tourism industry is facing losses. There has been unrest in public life.
The local people and people from different classes and professions want an end to this situation.

From the human chain, the speakers made five-point demands, including ensuring safe travel for tourists in Sajek and lifting the ban. They set a deadline of 24 hours to implement their demands.

Later, the procession went to the Deputy Commissioner's office and submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister through the administrator.
