Illegally storing of 11,000 liters of fuel in Singra, Tk 1 lakh fined

A mobile court has sentenced a businessman to two months in jail for failing to pay a fine of one lakh taka for illegally storing 11,000 liters of fuel oil in Singra, Natore.
The fine was imposed on Altaf Sheikh, the owner of Asha Traders in Sherkol Bazar of the upazila, at around 3 pm on Monday.
Mobile court judge Executive Magistrate and Upazila Executive Officer Abdullah Al Rifat said that based on a tip-off about illegal oil storage amid the ongoing fuel crisis, a raid was conducted at M/s Asha Traders in Sherkol Bazar of the upazila. At that time, 49 barrels of diesel, 5 barrels of octane, 2 barrels of petrol and 2 barrels of lubricant were found illegally stored there. More than 11,000 liters of fuel oil were found there. At that time, for failing to show valid documents, the proprietor of M/s Asha Traders, Altaf Sheikh, was sentenced to two months in jail in default of a fine of Tk 1 lakh. He immediately paid the fine of Tk 1 lakh. Along with this, an order was issued to sell the stored oil within 7 days.
The UNO also said that tag officers will be appointed from the administration for the sale of this fuel oil.
