
Jamaat leader Abdul Halim visits storm -affected areas, mosques in Lalmonirhat

Maulana Abdul Halim, Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, visited storm-affected areas and mosques in Lalmonirhat on Wednesday.
District Jamaat Secretary and nominated MP candidate for Lalmonirhat-2 constituency, Adv. Firoz Haidar Lavlu, along with leaders from upazila and union Jamaat, were present during the visit.Addressing the affected families, Maulana Abdul Halim said, standing beside the distressed and sorrowful is a fundamental act; Jamaat-e-Islami considers it a form of worship. Performing Salat and fasting are obligatory acts, but if we flee during times of suffering, we fail our religious duties. Jamaat-e-Islami is a party that seeks to establish Islamic principles in this country, ensuring equality and justice. Politics is for the people—not for personal gain. Jamaat leaders spend from their own income for the public."On the Teesta Master Plan, he stated that the Ameer of Jamaat is aware of the matter, and Jamaat will do everything within its capacity to work for the development of the people living along the Teesta River.He also met the father of Jannati, a sixth-grade student who was killed in Votmari Union, and said, those involved in Jannati’s murder must receive the highest and most just punishment. The Ameer of Jamaat has already provided financial support to the family and assured them of continued support."District Jamaat Secretary and Lalmonirhat-2 MP candidate Advocate Firoz Haidar Lavlu said, the people of this region are devout Muslims and have always stood with Jamaat-e-Islami. We strongly demand development for the Teesta region."After visiting affected homes and mosques, Maulana Abdul Halim inspected the damaged embankment along the Teesta River. The affected residents complained that due to the solar panels installed on the Teesta, their homes and families are now at risk of river erosion. They strongly demanded an immediate solution.At the site, Maulana Abdul Halim said:"We do not accept development that harms the people." Kaliganj Upazila Jamaat Ameer Maulana Ruhul Amin, Assistant Secretary Advocate Jahangir Alam, Upazila Executive Committee members Maulana Maksudar Rahman and Abul Bashar Lavlu, Upazila Secretary for Youth and Sports Ata-e-Rabbi, Votmari Union Ameer Maulana Suruzzaman Ahmed, Modati Union Ameer Maulana Motiul Islam Khan, and other leaders from various unions and upazilas were present.
