Munsiganj (South) Correspondent
Journalist Md. Masud Khan, President of Bikrampur Press Club and former Munsiganj correspondent of the daily Kaler Kantho, has demonstrated a great act of magnanimity by forgiving the accused involved in an attack and legal case against him.
On Tuesday, during a scheduled hearing of the case, the accused publicly admitted their guilt before the judge in open court and sought forgiveness from Masud Khan. He forgave them, and as a result, Munsiganj Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Md. Ziaur Rahman accepted the apology and disposed of the case. However, the judge issued a warning to the accused for their future conduct.
According to APP Md. Nur Hossain of the court, in 2018, accused Mintu Bepari, Sagar, Shibu Shil, and five others attacked journalist Masud Khan, then the Munsiganj correspondent of Kaler Kantho and President of the Bikrampur Press Club, leaving him injured. The attackers were reportedly angered by the absence of the name of Thana Awami League Joint General Secretary BM Shoeb in a news report, which led them to assault Masud Khan. He subsequently filed a case at Louhajang Police Station.
After a prolonged legal process, the accused admitted their guilt in open court yesterday and sought forgiveness from Masud Khan. When he forgave them, Judge Md. Ziaur Rahman officially disposed of the case but warned the accused regarding their future actions.
