Meat seller flees after being chased by mob while selling dead beef in Rajarhat

A meat seller flees after being chased by mob while trying to sell meat after slaughtering a dead cow in Rajarhat  on Saturday afternoon at Forkerhat Bazar in Umar Majid Union of the upazila.

According to eyewitnesses,  Alam Mia (36), son of deceased Sakibuddin of Balakandi Kasaipara village, a meat seller at Forkerhat Bazar and Wahedul Islam, son of deceased Abdul Aziz, who was a neighbor, had anthrax disease and was bleeding from the nose and mouth.


While buying a cow and bringing it to Forkerhat Bazar, the cow died on the way. Still, butcher Alam Mia, with the help of another meat seller Haider Ali, slaughtered the dead cow himself. One or two people in the market watched the scene from a distance.  Later, when the matter became known within a moment, hundreds of people gathered and tried to catch the butcher duo. Seeing the situation getting worse, they fled. 

Upon receiving the news, local Union Parishad Chairman Ahsanul Kabir Adil and Upazila Sanitary Inspector (Acting) Abdul Latif reached the spot. Later, after collecting samples of the dead cow, it was buried.

Union Parishad Chairman Ahsanul Kabir Adil and Sanitary Inspector (Acting) Abdul Latif confirmed the truth of the incident.
Abdul Latif said that a regular case will be filed against the butchers involved in this incident at the police station.

Rajarhat Police Station OC  Nazmul Alam said,  he has come to know about the incident and a case will be recorded if a complaint is received.
