
Meeting held to prevent traffic jam, harassment of passengers on road at Boalkhali

At the initiative of Boalkhali Upazila and Municipal Administration, a meeting was held between the police station-traffic police, leaders of the Bangladesh Passenger Welfare Association and leaders of CNG auto-rickshaw (taxi-tempo) drivers and helpers to prevent traffic congestion and harassment of passengers on the road.
The meeting was held at the Boalkhali UNO Office at 1 pm on Tuesday and was presided over by UNO Mohammad Rahmat Ullah.
Present at the time were Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Municipal Administrator Kanij Fatema, Boalkhali Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Lutfur Rahman, Municipal Accountant Officer Mujibur Rahman, Bangladesh Passenger Welfare Association representative, Boalkhali Upazila Branch President Journalist Adhir Barua, Vice President Paltu Kanti Barua, Tempu Drivers Association representative Md. Abshar, and representatives of Taxi-Tempu Drivers Helper Association.
At the time, it was decided to take detailed discussions and necessary steps to remove illegal and floating shops at Purba Kalurghat, Gomdandi Fultal, Upazila Sadar, Shakpura Chowmuhani, Kanungopara More junctions to ease traffic congestion, control taxi-tempu parking at various places, and control and discipline the collection of additional fares for harassing passengers. All concerned were called upon to come forward with cooperation in these matters
