Mobile Court fines Tk 63,000 in Raozan

The Upazila administration in Raozan, Chittagong, conducted eviction drives to clear footpaths and roads of encroachments. 

 
On Tuesday afternoon, a mobile court led by Executive Magistrate and Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Municipal Administrator Angshing Marma carried out an operation along the Chittagong-Rangamati highway, covering Munshirghata, Jalil Nagar, and Fakirhat Bazar in Rauzan Upazila. The drive targeted illegal makeshift shops, including food stalls and fruit vendors, removing all types of temporary establishments. During the operation, 31,000 taka in fines were imposed, and warnings were issued in 16 cases under the Local Government (Municipality) Act, 2009.

On the same day, in the morning, inspections were conducted at several auto rice mills in Rauzan Upazila. Four mill owners were fined 12,000 taka for not using jute sacks. Additionally, at 5:30 PM, in the Paschim Gohira Sarttarghat area, the mobile court imposed a 20,000 taka fine for an illegal sand sales center set up along the Chittagong-Rangamati highway. In total, 63,000 taka in fines were imposed across 16 cases during these separate operations.

Angshing Marma, Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Rauzan Upazila, stated that the operations were conducted to reduce traffic congestion and ensure safe and comfortable movement for pedestrians on footpaths. Such drives will continue in the public interest.
