The mystery behind the murder of saint Chandra Ray in Bochaganj, Dinajpur has been unraveled. 

Police  arrested a neighbor and friend Monodeep Ray (20) involved in the incident. Along with that, the police have recovered evidence related to the incident.

Arrested Monodeep Ray is the son of Tapan Kumar Ray of Ronti village in Ward No. 2 of Eshania Union in Bochaganj.

It has been reported that Monodeep Ray, a neighboring friend, borrowed 10,000 taka for one month with interest from local small-scale medicine trader saint Chandra Ray. But Monodeep was furious as the saint disclosed the secret loan matter to his guardians. 

According to the plan, on the night of June 25, Monodeep Ray called the saint over the phone and lured him to the bank of a fish pond owned by local Bedahar area resident and chairman Utpal Ray Bulu. During a heated argument, Monodeep hit saint Chandra Ray on the back of the head with a bamboo stick, resulting in his death. After the murder, Monodeep dumped the body into the pond and fled to Thakurgaon to go into hiding. Two days later,  the half-decomposed body of the saint floated to the surface of the pond on Wednesday morning . Upon receiving the news, Bochaganj police recovered the body and prepared an inquest report.

 OC of Bochaganj Police Station Hasan Zahid Sarkar said that the victim's father Manoj Chandra Ray filed a case against an unidentified person regarding the murder of his son. During the investigation, the police uncovered the underlying reason behind the murder and identified and arrested the accused in the shortest possible time.

on Saturday  afternoon, Police Superintendent Marufat Hussain visited the crime scene. Based on Monodeep Ray's information, the police recovered the motorcycle used by saint Ray and the bamboo stick used in the murder.  The victim’s father demanded the death penalty for the murderer of his son.
