A woman named Momena Khatun (45) was killed in a clash between two rival groups over territorial dominance in Raipura upazila of Narsingdi. 

At least 15 others were injured, including several with gunshot wounds. The clash involved the use of spears, iron rods, locally made firearms, and crude bombs.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday  in the Saidabad area of Srinagar Union under Raipura upazila. The deceased, Momena Khatun, was the wife of Akhtar Hossain of that village.

Those injured by gunfire include Taju Mia (38), son of Motalib Mia; Kofil Uddin (55), son of the late Kalu Mia; and Rana Mia (20), son of Alam Mia — all residents of Saidabad village. They are currently undergoing treatment at various local hospitals.

According to police and local sources, there has been a longstanding feud between the Hanif Master group and the Ershad group in Saidabad village over territorial dominance. Multiple attacks and legal cases have resulted from this dispute in the past. As part of this ongoing conflict, around 5 AM on Monday, supporters of the Ershad group launched an attack on the Hanif group using homemade weapons and crude bombs, leading to a fierce clash between the two sides.

Momena Khatun, who was struck by gunfire during the clash, was rushed to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital, where the attending physician declared her dead. Her death sparked tension in the area. Upon receiving news of the incident, Raipura police rushed to the scene and brought the situation under control.

Prabir Ghosh, OC (Investigation) of Raipura Police Station, said, “The clash between the Hanif Master and Ershad groups occurred over dominance issues. One person died after being shot. Additional police forces have been deployed, and the situation is currently under control.”
