Outstanding hockey players Rehana, Shashti honoured at Shyamnagar Press Club

Rehana and Shashti from Shyamnagar, Satkhira made history by winning medals in hockey. They were specially honoured by the Shyamnagar Upazila Press Club.
After representing Bangladesh in the Under-18 Asia Cup hockey tournament held in Dazhou, China, and securing third place with a medal, Rehana and Shashti were felicitated on Monday in the Press Club Hall.
Rehana is the daughter of Kawsar Ali from Haybatpur, Shyamnagar. Her father runs a small tea stall at Nakipur Market and managed to educate her at BKSP in Dhaka. Shashti is the daughter of Sukanta Roy from Kathalbariya village in Kashimari. The Bangladesh women's hockey team achieved success in the tournament on their very first participation.
On Sunday, July 13, Bangladesh defeated Kazakhstan 6-2 in the third-place match to claim the bronze medal. The team was captained by Sharika Rimon.
Also present during the event were Samiul Azam Monir, President of Shyamnagar Upazila Press Club; SM Mostafa Kamal, General Secretary; journalists from the Upazila Press Club; football academy coach Aktar Hossain; Rehana’s father Kawsar Ali; Shashti’s father Sukanta Roy; among others.
