 Saghata Upazila BNP organized a press conference, human chain and protest march demanding the postponement of the local council of the BNP and the cancellation of the Election Commission.

 The program was held on Sunday afternoon at Saghata Bazar Paltan. 

Thana BNP member Jahangir Alam, union convener Idris Ali Thandu, Member Secretary Atiqur Rahman Atik, Chhatra Dal organizing secretary Barul Awal Sujan spoke on the human chain.

Later, the protesters gave a written statement at the press club in front of the Saghata police station. At the time, they said that the Saghata Union BNP council is expected to be held on July 7.

 However, it has been alleged that the Election Commission, who is responsible for the council, has been biased. Speakers claim that the Awami League has been included in the ward committee, excluding the abandoned leaders of 2022 before the council. According to the speech, Rezaul Karim Roni has been actively involved in the Awami League for 25 years and has participated in various programs of the Saghata Union Awami League. 

Although the local Awami League leaders have multiple pictures and evidence, the Election Commission has declared its nomination valid. They also complained that despite the clear directive from the central and upazila level of the BNP, the Election Commission disobeyed these instructions and gave Roni the nomination form and ignored the demand for cancellation of his candidacy for scrutiny.
