RCC awarded for ensuring accurate birth, death registration

Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) has received an award in recognition of ensuring accurate birth and death registration within 45 days of birth or death.
The award was presented at a ceremony marking National Birth and Death Registration Day 2026, held on Tuesday at the Grand Ballroom of Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in Dhaka. Dr. Abdul Moin Khan, MP, Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, and State Minister Mir Shahe Alam, MP, handed over the crest and special certificate of recognition to Rajshahi City Corporation Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton.
The discussion meeting was organized by the Office of the Registrar General of Births and Deaths under the Local Government Division.
Dr. Abdul Moin Khan, MP, attended the event as the chief guest, while State Minister Mir Shahe Alam, MP, was present as the special guest.
The meeting was chaired by Local Government Division Secretary Md. Shahidul Hasan. Among the distinguished guests were ICT Division Secretary Md. Mamunur Rashid Bhuiyan, Cabinet Division Secretary (Coordination and Reform) Farah Shammi, Head of Development Cooperation at the Delegation of the European Union to Bangladesh Dr. Michal Krejza, and UNICEF Bangladesh Representative Jillian Melsop.
Dr. Abu Nasr Mohammad Abdullah, Registrar General of Births and Deaths under the Local Government Division, delivered the welcome address.
After receiving the award, RCC Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton said, “Completing birth and death registration within the stipulated time is an important civic service. Since taking charge, I have been working with emphasis on ensuring quality civic services for residents. The officials and employees of Rajshahi City Corporation have been providing services to citizens with responsibility and sincerity.
“This recognition for ensuring accurate birth and death registration will further encourage and inspire us. We will continue our efforts in the future to make civic services easier, faster and more effective.”
