Robbery, gold ornaments looted in Mirsarai

A robbery incident has occurred in Mirsarai, Chittagong, with family members being held hostage at the house of Gias Uddin, a resident of Haji Shafi Ahmed Mestri's house in Duaru village, Ward No. 7, Khoyachhara Union No. 12 of the upazila, at around 2 am on Sunday.
Family members said that the robbers took away valuables including about 1 bhori of gold ornaments and 45,000 taka.
The owner of the house, Gias Uddin, said that around 2 am on Sunday, an armed group of 10-12 people broke into my house and tied my hands, feet and face with a towel. They were wearing black masks and shorts. The robbers had revolvers, chapatis and various indigenous weapons in their hands. They tied my hands and face with clothes and ropes from the house. Later, they took away about 1 bhari of gold, cash and mobile phones and watches from my wife and daughter who were in the house.
He also said that when my little grandson cries, he grabs his throat and says if he causes trouble, he will continue to choke him.
Mirsarai Police Station OC Farida Yasmin said that the police visited the scene after receiving the information. An investigation is underway and legal action will be taken immediately if a complaint is received.
