Sandwip Municipality budget session, TLCC meet emphasises welfare-oriented programs

The budget session for the fiscal year 2025–26 and the Town Level Coordination Committee (TLCC) meeting of Sandwip Municipality were held recently.
The event took place on Tuesday at the Municipality Auditorium, presided over by Sandwip Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Municipal Administrator Mong Ching Nu Marma. The session was attended by concerned ward councilors, municipal officials, leaders of various political parties, local dignitaries, and members of the media.
In the session, a total budget of Tk 53.91 crore was declared—Tk 3.91 crore under the revenue sector and Tk 50 crore for development purposes. The budget includes revenue income, government allocations, and support from development partners. Special emphasis was placed on education, healthcare, sanitation, drainage systems, road development, and water supply.
In his speech, Municipal Administrator Mong Ching Nu Marma stated, "This budget has been formulated to meet the fundamental needs of the public and to ensure quality civic services. We are committed to building a transparent and accountable municipal administration."
The session also included a review of last year’s budget implementation progress, current financial challenges, and future action plans.
Acting ward councilors, political leaders, local citizens, and journalists raised various ongoing issues across different wards and urged that those concerns be included in the current budget.
The municipal authorities reaffirmed their commitment to participatory governance by incorporating public opinion into future planning initiatives.
