Three leaders of BNP and its affiliate organizations have been expelled in Sarishabari, Jamalpur, on charges of being involved in activities against the party’s ideology and discipline.
They were expelled on Friday and Saturday. Meanwhile, the upazila administration has formed a three-member investigation committee over allegations of monetary collection during the distribution of rice under the VGD card allocated for the ultra-poor.
Confirming the formation of the investigation committee on Saturday (May 24) afternoon, acting Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Assistant Commissioner (Land) Lisa Risili said that a three-member investigation committee has been formed regarding irregularities in rice distribution. The committee has been formed with Upazila Agriculture Officer Anup Singh as the convener, Project Implementation Officer Shawkat Jamil and Women Affairs Officer Shayla Nazneen as members. Necessary action will be taken against those involved after receiving the investigation report.
Meanwhile, according to sources from the upazila BNP, Jubo Dal, and Sramik Dal, on Friday night, based on specific allegations of activities against party ideology and principles, a letter signed by Upazila BNP General Secretary Faridul Kabir Talukder Shamim expelled Pogladigha Union BNP Joint General Secretary Akhtaruzzaman Ripon, Upazila Sramik Dal President Moniruzzaman Adam, and General Secretary Morshed Alam Talukder. Additionally, with joint signatures of Pogladigha Union Sramik Dal’s Organizing Secretary-1 Sujon Sheikh and on Saturday, Upazila Jubo Dal Convener A.K.M. Fayzul Kabir Talukder Shahin and Member Secretary Md. Robiul Islam, Pogladigha Union Jubo Dal’s Cooperative Affairs Secretary Md. Mostafizur Rahman Babu and two others were expelled from their primary membership and all positions.
Regarding this, District BNP President and Sarishabari Upazila BNP General Secretary Faridul Kabir Talukder Shamim said, “There is no place for corrupt individuals in the BNP. The party will never take responsibility for an individual’s wrongdoing.
Three individuals have been expelled. Although two were seen in a video, one was heard saying, ‘You’re getting rice worth six thousand taka, what’s the harm in giving 200 taka?’ The voice was identified as that of Pogladigha Union Jubo Dal’s Cooperative Affairs Secretary Mostafizur Rahman Babu. Hence, the Jubo Dal also expelled him.”
