According to court sources, a Jassore court has ordered life imprisonment and fine for three drug dealers from Sharsha in a phensedyl case. Special Sessions Judge and Special Judge (District and Sessions Judge) SM Nurul Islam gave this sentence in a verdict on Thursday. Special PP Advocate Aminur Rahman confirmed the matter.
The convicted accused are Kamal Hossain, son of Matleb Hossain of Shyamlagachi village in Sharsha, Azhar Ali, son of deceased Pachu Bepari of Bujtala village in Benapole, and Amir Hossain Member, son of deceased Chan Mia of Uttar Deuli village in Jhikargachha.
According to the case, on December 7, 2015, SI Murad Hossain of Sharsha Police Station took a position near Gatipara Dakhil Madrasa with a group of policemen. At that time, the three escaped after leaving three plastic bags. In the presence of immediate witnesses, 100 bottles of phensedyl were recovered inside each bag, making a total of 300 bottles. SI Murad Hossain filed a case under the Narcotics Control Act at Sharsha Police Station, accusing the absconding Amir Hossain Member, Kamal Hossain and Azhar. After investigating the case, the investigating officer SI Barkat Hossain accused the three and submitted a charge sheet to the court. After taking long testimony, the judge sentenced each of the accused to life imprisonment, a fine of Tk 5,000 each, and an additional six months in prison in default. The judge announced the verdict in the presence of notorious killers and drug lords Kamal Hossain and Amir Hossain Member. The other accused, Azhar, is absconding. The convicted accused Kamal Hossain, son of Matleb Hossain of Shyamlagachhi village in Sharsha, is not only a drug lord, but also a brutal killer.

However, local residents are demanding that Kamal Hossain, a notorious killer, drug, gold and arms dealer, be given the death penalty for seven serial murders.
